Von Limb

The first sketches of what would become Von Limb were laid down on some pretty rudimentary equipment - a cheap drum machine, a microphone on batteries and a Japanese synthesizer purchased for 50 € on a flea market. These early recordings sprung in the intimacy of a small roofed apartment located in some dull suburban area just outside Paris. Moods turned nocturnal as the district of La Défense colors were pouring down through an overlooking louver. A chimmering landscape, orange glints spreading across the mirroring skyline and a towering concrete blues nurtured a mix of tribulation and a certain picturesque fascination for the dusking twilight.

 

A first version was tweaked in among friends but these Von Limb quibblers and chorus shoegazed guitars decided to take their ingle-jangles to next level and went on to book some East End London studio. Past a dubious Polish restaurant, a rubbled backyard littered with rubbish there was standing the instrumental lapis philosophorum. Against all odds and the wallowed odors, a few rare 80s English amps and early digital pedals were found scattered across this little technical haven stuck between a prayer hall and a garbage cans mountain. Perfect ! Music would emerge from limbos and finally started becoming more palpable.

 

The final touch was brought up back in Paris during a feverish month of July as the French capital was crumbling under a raresome heatwave. The trio locked themselves up for a full week in the One Two Pass windowless studio only to come out with an icy soundtrack revering dreamy guitars, dry drum machines, 80's synths and telluric bass lines.
